Trip description
From the meeting point Zans to the turn-off towards Kaserill Alm
The wheelchair accessible hiking trail starts at the Meeting place Zans directly at the turning point. From here we follow the asphalted road straight on in the direction of Berggasthof Sass Rigais and Zanser Schwaige. After passing a car park again and leaving the road behind us, which has a gradient of approx. 11 %, we come to the actual starting point of the nature discovery trail. The trail, about 3 km long, starts with a gentle incline on graveled wear surface. Now we also come across the first of a total of fourteen information points, which are intended to provide insights into the flora and fauna of the Puez-Odle Nature Park. On the first section we also have a great view over the Pius meadows at the foot of the imposing Geisler peaks. After approx. 1 km we reach a crossroads (turn left into Direction Kaserill Alm), but we follow the path straight ahead (sign with wheelchair pictogram).
Back to the meeting point Zans
From the crossroads in the direction of the Kaserill Alm, the trail continues uphill with a constant gradient of approx. 10 - 11 %. After each ascent there are inviting rest areas with tables and benches. After a short while we cross the riverbed of the Kaserill stream with the help of a wooden bridge. The path then bends to the left and shortly afterwards divides. Follow the wheelchair pictogram again and take the right fork. From here the path descends through shady woodland to the wildlife enclosure where you can see roe deer, stags and dam deer. You can also admire an ancient lime kiln. Shortly afterwards we reach the road. The nature adventure trail ends here and we follow the path to the left of the road back to the meeting point Zans.
Tour Extension:
If 1 hour of leisurely hiking is too little for you, you can complete the tour with a Hike to the Kaserill Alm connect. This extends the tour by 3 hours. Furthermore, the combination of these two tours is only recommended for advanced hikers.
Trail conditions
At the beginning still asphalted road, afterwards well and broadly developed footpath with nature surface and fine gravel.

Accompanying person

Explanation
The nature discovery trail is well developed and wide and is maintained throughout. The trail has only moderate inclines of up to 11 % and can therefore be navigated independently with a wheelchair traction device. The trail is therefore suitable for beginners.
Resting facilities
Meeting point Zans, Zanser Schwaige
Tested:
- Meeting point Zans ( 1.650 m): The barrier-free snack station can be reached via the asphalted road. Here is a slope to master, possibly without a traction device pushing help is needed. The terrace as well as the snack station itself are barrier-free. Depending on the capacity of the tables, a little moving of chairs may be necessary.
- Zanser Schwaige ( 1,685 m): Via a footpath with gravel you can turn off in the direction of the Zanser Schwaige and thus reach the gravel-covered terrace barrier-free. The interior is accessible via a step, and the Schwaige is not particularly large, so it could be quite cramped with a wheelchair.
Accessible toilet
In the meeting point/info point Zans (directly at the front of the parking lot and at the info point) there is a barrier-free WC (not tested myself).
