Trip description
Start at the hikers' car park Kühhof above the village Lazfons
This easy hike to Rifugio Chiusa begins at the large hikers' car park above the village of Lazfons with the interesting name Kühhof. A pretty wayside cross already points to our destination. Right at the beginning, a cattle grid has to be crossed, which can be a bit difficult for wheelchairs with small wheels. For all others, this will be no problem.
We hike along trail no. 1 in the direction of Rifugio Chiusa, which initially winds its way gently uphill with a maximum gradient of 15% through sparse woodland and then along alpine meadows with great views. Along the trail, a forest road with fine but firm white gravel, benches invite you to stop and rest.
At the destination: Rifugio Chiusa
After about 1 to 1 ½ hours, we reach Rifugio Chiusa, which is located in the middle of a picturesque alpine meadow. From here you have a great view of the Dolomites on the opposite side of the hut. While children can romp extensively in the playground in front of Rifugio Chiusa, adults enjoy the wonderful view of the Mount Sasso Putia, the Odle Group in Val di Funes and the Sassolungo Group with a cool drink. The hut is ideal for a hike in early summer or late autumn, as it is then not yet too hot on the alpine meadows and the sparse forest sections still bring some cooling.
The way back is the same as the way there.
Trail conditions
Continuously unpaved forest road with fine to coarse gravel.

Resting facilities
Tested:
- Rifugio Chiusa (1,920 m): Unfortunately, the terrace is inaccessible at ground level. First, there is a small gravel climb of about 3 m and from there you have to climb a step onto the wooden terrace. Manual wheelchairs can be pulled backwards up this step or lifted thanks to the guests. There are benches below the hut, but these are more for resting without eating. On the homepage of the Rifugio Chiusa, you can clearly see the step to the terrace.
Accessible toilet
There is no barrier-free WC on this hike.
The nearest toilet is located in Lazfons. The Inn Weißes Kreuz has a barrier-free toilet, which should only be used on request of if dining at the Inn.
The nearest public toilets are in Chiusa at the bus station/train station and at the market.
