After all the amazing pictures about „how to build accessible ramps“ this month we are looking at ideas for accessible bathrooms and indoor as well as outdoor swimming pools.
Even if negative examples receive more attention, it is precisely the positive examples that should fascinate us.
Like this one here at Vandhalla Egmont Rehabilitation Centre.
We would be interested to know what you would think if every indoor or outdoor swimming pool had such access.

Accessible Bathroom
Diesmal sind wir zu Hause und schauen uns die Möglichkeit an, wie der Höhenunterschied zwischen Boden und Dusche überwunden werden könnte. Diese Rampe ist zwar nicht ganz einfach zu überwinden – abhängig von der Behinderung – aber es ist vermutlich deutlich billiger als eine ebenerdige Dusche.

Accessible swimming pools
This time we’re on the outside. This picture shows a so-called pool lifter, which is very useful for most of the paraplegic. These lifts work with different drive systems, such as petrol engines, electrical or by water pressure. In Europe, you can find some of these in public swimming pools, but also hotels use them to be awarded as an accessible hotel.
What do you think about these lifters?
We – here in Fiè allo Sciliar – are happy to become such a lifter at our famous Laghetto di Fiè this summer. But – shush – that’s still a secret. 😉 More to come in our blog about this…

Accessible Bathroom
Home, sweet home. Who doesn’t want to have his or her home the best accessible place on earth? Just right for your needs. To get into the shower – even if it’s not on ground level – is most times easier than getting into a bathtub. So some people came up with unique ideas on how to get into the tub more quickly – such as the one on the picture.
